Here’s a simple and effective way to increase your credibility when email marketing:
In every email, give people your full name and email, or name and phone number and *invite* them to contact you. Very few will, and those who do will almost always be polite.
The point of this is, it’s a *big* credibility and trust booster. Especially these days when many of us are bombarded with hundreds of spam messages daily, it’s a refreshing change to see someone openly say who they are, and invite you to contact them.
While it’s a Can-Spam legal requirement to post your physical contact information in your emails, illegal spammers blatantly ignore the rule. By posting your contact info prominently, you set yourself apart, and nothing says you have to also *invite* people to contact you.
Actually, this same principle applies to websites. I noticed a sharp increase in sales after posting my phone number on my site, and most others do, too.
Would you buy from a website that had no contact info posted? Most people would *not*, and neither will they click links in emails or buy recommended products when they have no idea who the sender is.
Taking this one step further, it’s a good idea to use your real name in the “from” field of every email. It’s far more personal than using a business name, business tag line, or inconsistent salutation.
